Please note that the steps for both options described in this article must be performed individually on each device you want to configure this on.
Introduction
Local apps on Mac are only accessible via Workspace on the device which they are installed to. In order to enable local applications from the Workspace, there are two options: using Apple's "Shortcuts" app or using "SwiftDefaultApps".
Option 1: Shortcuts
Open Shortcuts
Click the + icon in Shortcuts, a new window will open
Add the Open App action to the flow
Select the app you wish to open
Give the flow a name
Special characters or spaces are not allowed
Go to the workspace and create a new Shortcut tile in the App store
Add the app to a tile group
Option 2: SwiftDefaultApps
Download and install SwiftDefaultApps
Open SwiftDefaultApps and click URI Schemes
Enter a name for the shortcut in the bottom left, this must be unique
Click the new URI Schema and select Other, a new window will open
Select Applications and choose the application you want to link to the shortcut
Go to the workspace and create a new Shortcut tile in the App store
Add the app to a tile group
